PBS Newshour on Haiti Adoption

Haiti Adoption News

We appreciate your interest in helping the children of Haiti during this time of crisis. However, at this time, the earthquake has put a stop to Haiti adoptions.  No new adoptions are being accepted or processed by the Haitian government at this moment.  We strongly support UNICEF, Saving the Children and World Vision’s position on focusing on the reunification of the homeless children with their families in the days and weeks ahead.

However, we also strongly believe that, once the Haitian government is back to order and becomes functional again, and the reunification effort is over, international adoption will still play an extremely important role in providing permanent and loving homes for the thousands of adoptable children.   To meet this soon-to-come challenge, we are creating a Prospective Adoptive Families Waiting List for interested and qualified families so that we can keep you informed in the coming weeks or months and serve you right away when Haitian adoption is reopened.  In order to be included on this informational waiting list, you must turn in your application.  We will NOT collect application fees until you are ready to be processed on a first in first serve basis.

If you are determined to move forward with full understanding of the risk and uncertainty of future Haitian adoption, we are ready to serve you, following the pre-earthquake Haitian adoption qualification rules and regulations. Please read qualifications carefully.

Foster care families are not needed at this moment. For more information on how to become a licensed foster care family, please contact your local Department of Human and Family Services.

Thank you again for you interest.
